What are the affects of alcohol on type 1 diabetics?
alright well im type 1 and in lofty school and i just want to know what the different types of alcohol would do to me?
ive tried hurricane lantern beer that didn't do anything to my sugar but what about other stuff, ie normal beer, complex alcohol, and stuff like that. please don't tell me im to young-looking or i need to talk to my doctor because my parents other go with me to the doctor and i can gross my own choices. but thank you for your help

I am Type 1, and I drink very little. Alcohol makes our blood sugar soar. We are cheap drunks. O'douls is OK if it is cold. Malt liquor is really bleak. Red wine is worse than dry white wine. Scotch doesn't affect our blood sugar as much as bourbon. Stick with Bud light beside your pizza. Alcohol with food is not as bad as straight. If you help yourself to Lantus, you shouldn't drink at all. Hope this helps. I know you want to be cool, but beside diabetes we haave to be in for the long haul. The alternative is not so upright.

In the fermenting process, sugar is converted to alcohol.
In anything that's low alcohol, it means deeply of sugar remains.

Vodka, Whiskey etc are completely carb free. All of the available sugar has been converted into alcohol.

Your liver has two functions: it supplies your body near a constant supply of sugar (basal) and it filters out toxins. It does both of those using the same metabolic pathway, which medium that it can't do both at the same time.

Do not count the carbs surrounded by alcohol.It doesn't work that way.
Do count the carbs in mixers.
