"lattice Carbs"? as a diabetic can i munch through food that have 18 carbs but "3 NET carbs?"?
Answers:
Don't believe the 'net carb' claims.
Not all of them are created equal.
For example, Dreamfields Pasta has around 5 net carbs, but 41 carbs per serving.
Well, those 'other carbs' can actually wreak blood sugar spikes from 4 to 12 hours later! (personal experience for sure).
The other carbs can ferment in your intestines and create sugar.
If your body can find a track to digest something, it will.
Count all carbs. Count calories.
If by eating something next to net carb claims, watch blood sugar level carefully. You will see that most, but not all of the claims are bogus and your blood sugar level will be higher.
Another word of warning:
Look at the total carbs on a box, then subtract the sugar carbs and other known fiber carbs.
There is a HUGE difference between what those affix up to and what the listed carbs are versus the total carbs.
I tried contacting several companies about this, but to date, none of them replied to my request for what those 'other' carbs are.
Not even the FDA have replied.
So, count all carbs, just to be undisruptive.
Neting out fiber and sugar alcohols gets you to the net carbs which supposedly do not effect blood sugar. I buy it on fiber - singular because of the way fiber is counted as a carb by the feds. But - sugar alcohols are another thing. I see them as a vulnerability. Especially since you fall into the same trap that the low chubby food industry set for us. "Safe food" which actually raises the total calorie count and undermine the entire diet.
