I'm type 2 diet and tablet controlled and eat a lot more strong foods than I used to do. I don't really miss sweets as I didn't eat them much when I was younger but I do treat myself when Thorntons have the diabetic chocolates and sweets on offer! When I was first diagnosed I looked at what (very little) diabetic food be for sale. What there be was expensive and to me seemed similar to designer food! So it was back to the apposite old fashioned cooking the way that my mother used to do. Unfortuntely I own a bad reaction to some of the artifical sweetners so I a short time ago don't bother with any desserts but my treat is reduced sugar marmalade! Catering for diabetics can be difficult because Diabetics whether they are Type 1 or 2 may react to food within totally different ways! Good luck with your project. Jan. Source(s): Type 2 Diabetic.

Most diabetic products are not good for you and they are expensive. There are normally other products available that are better for you and cheaper ie dim chocolate is being tested on some type 2 patients to see if it can help contained by the regulation of the blood glucose. It has to be over 70% cocoa butter in it

18) Any other comments? …If I am making cakes, biscuits etc I immediately routinely halve the sugar content and then hold spoonfuls of the sugar out and replace it with sweetners.………………………………………………………… 1 day ago - 3 days disappeared to answer.

Diabetes is a condition and not an illness, I eat matching as the rest of my family but do not eat unwanted items food or fast food, I keep to a forceful diet but can have the occassional dessert or chocolate. You do not need to munch through special diabetic foods, good healthy everyday food is fitting
