A diet for a diabetic?

I have put on a bit of weight since i become diabetic (Type 1) because the condition requires me to eat often, regular meal, and i CANNOT skip them like i sometimes used to :/
I really want to loose weight, i ride my horse every other morning and muck out, but i need a diet that's not going to make my diabetes travel mad :/
any suggestions?

I too have diabetes! But, I hold type 2. I for the first couple of moths have a lot of trouble near finding the right diet for me! The only way I get help was to call round the nutritionist, and my doctor!
